Building for Men and Boys of East Baltimore!

BUILD FOR MEN & BOYS!

Pathways to adult manhood are in flux – in particular, finding stable employment,  without the benefit supportive systems of prevention, protection, and care.

Young men of color are at risk for poor health and developmental outcomes beginning at birth and persisting throughout their lifetime.

Men’s ongoing exposure to chronic stress undermines cognitive, social-emotional, and regulatory human development as well as the immune system.

Mass media often emphasizes the lack of fathers in family life which create the false impression that instability are typical characteristics of lower-income families.

MFC seeks to improve families through systematic examination of strengths of the African American family. The concept of “social fatherhood” was born of the need for men to care and support children who are not necessarily their biological offspring, but are connected to families in the community.

At MFC the specific needs of people in community are addressed through a holistic array of services that are designed to meet men and families where they are. We move them towards self-empowerment and sufficiency.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

SseHura High Impact Consulting, through the leadership of Dr. Millie A. Johnson, created and launched the MFC Capital Campaign Project in November 2019.

A capital campaign is a targeted fundraising effort designed to raise funds for a specific project. The MFC Development Team is raising funds to build a Center for Men & Boys in Baltimore.

We are preserving Men and Families; raising Boys to be Men; and igniting leadership, responsibility, and opportunity for all through the revamping and rebuilding of a new Center.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PLAN

1

Revamping and rebuilding the Men & Families Center building located on 2222 Jefferson Street, East Baltimore, Maryland.  We commit to building a more functional, state-of-the-art Center so that men and boys in our local communities will continue to thrive.

2

Renovating and expanding the internal structure, and the adjacent parking lot as well as improving landscaping, furnishing, signage, and other improvements such that MFC is fully equipped to train and serve residents all across Baltimore.

3

Improving capacity building and operating efficiency and effectiveness by increasing program initiatives, improving systems and infrastructure, improving equipment and technology, hiring adequately trained staff, and providing training and development for everyone.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PROJECT GOAL: $3,000,000*

*The project budget is a preliminary estimate based on initial observations in 2020. Factors such as normative annual price escalations, recent post-COVID inflationary rises, fluctuating costs of construction material and labor, and unforeseen site conditions may impact and change the estimated budget as the project progresses further toward construction and final delivery. MDC Development may update the target budget as needed.
